Signing of Business Agreement and Joint Meeting
The Small and Medium Business Ombudsman announced on the 11th that it has signed a mutual business agreement with Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province to promote sustainable regulatory innovation for small and medium enterprises.
This agreement aims to facilitate central-local regulatory innovation collaboration between the Ombudsman and local governments. Through the agreement, the two organizations plan to establish a cooperative system for regulatory innovation with the joint goal of creating Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province as a global bio-economy city and revitalizing the regional economy. They will mutually cooperate in sharing regulatory information and cases, conducting joint regulatory investigations and discoveries, and promotional activities.

Choi Seung-jae, the Ombudsman, stated, “This business agreement emphasizes supporting regulations and difficulties that are hard to resolve at the local government level through customized regulatory consulting by the Ombudsman.” He added, “We will provide comprehensive support to help the region become a business-friendly area by creating jobs and enhancing corporate vitality.”
On the same day, the Ombudsman and Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province also held a joint meeting on central-local regulatory innovation. During the meeting, ten major tasks proposed by the province as urgent to resolve were discussed, including ▲relaxation of setback distances from road boundaries for accommodation facilities in planned management areas within Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province ▲improvement of double charging of site usage fees in shared waters of the Saemangeum area ▲easing of registration requirements for foreign tourist urban lodging businesses, and other requests for improvements from the local field.
