"Am I the Star of the 17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival?"...17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival Event Contest

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) and the Jungnang Cultural Foundation (Chairman Jo Min-gu) are holding various contests to encourage more residents to participate in creating the 17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival.

First, the 'Rose Parade,' which marks the start of the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival, is open to any group of five or more people. The parade will march approximately 1.5 km from Rose Flower Street, passing through the Rose Shrine, to the main stage, adding vibrant decorations to the festival grounds.

This year’s new event, the 'Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival Historical Photo Contest,' invites submissions of old photos capturing memories and stories related to Jungnangcheon Stream and the festival. Selected photos will be exhibited at the festival. Anyone who owns photos with memories from Jungnangcheon or the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival can participate.

The 'Rose Pop-up Exhibition Hall' and permanent program market are also recruiting through contests. The 'Rose Item Contest,' which develops planned products using the festival’s representative image (BI), offers winners prize money and the opportunity to sell their products during the festival. Winners will also have the chance to open a store at the observatory caf? within Rose Park in the future.

Contests aimed at creating an eco-friendly festival are also underway. The 'Rose Market,' which sells rose-related products and accessories, gives extra points to businesses using eco-friendly products and packaging. Additionally, the 'ZeROSE Market,' which aims for a zero-waste festival, targets vendors selling eco-friendly products, snacks, and beverages, and plans to actively support the use of eco-friendly packaging during the festival.

Furthermore, from February, individual and group cultural artists active in the region are being recruited year-round as 'Jungnang Artists.' Artists in various fields such as singing, playing instruments, dance, and performance are eligible, and they will have opportunities to perform at the Rose Festival and other local cultural events.

Applications for the festival contests open on March 10 and run until the 28th. Detailed information can be found under ‘Participation Recruitment’ on the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival website.

Kim Deok-gu, CEO of the Jungnang Cultural Foundation, said, “This year, we plan to present even more diverse programs. In addition to the ongoing contests, we are preparing rich programs such as ‘Jungnang Rose Again’ and the ‘Rose History Quiz’ event, so we ask for your great interest and participation.”

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “We will actively support making the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival, known as ‘the most beautiful festival in Seoul,’ a festival that all residents can enjoy together.”
