How Healthy Are My Blood Vessels? Gimcheon Launches 'Know Your Own Vascular Numbers' Campaign

Gimcheon City in North Gyeongsang Province is actively promoting the "Know Your Vascular Numbers" campaign to prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases among the younger generation (those in their 20s and 30s).

How Healthy Are My Blood Vessels? Gimcheon Launches 'Know Your Own Vascular Numbers' Campaign At the Jungang Health Center in Gimcheon, Gyeongbuk, people in their 20s and 30s are participating in cardiovascular prevention management from an early age.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of knowing and managing the three key numbers that indicate vascular health?blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels?in order to prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, emphasizing the significance of preventive care.

Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, which include hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and cerebrovascular disease, are leading causes of death, making early detection and management from a young age extremely important. However, due to rising obesity rates and changing lifestyle habits, the incidence of chronic diseases among young people has been rapidly increasing in recent years.

In particular, the number of hypertension patients in their 20s has increased 1.8 times, and diabetes patients 2.2 times over the past decade, significantly raising the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases among the younger generation.

In response, Gimcheon City is widely promoting the importance of measuring and managing blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels among citizens in their 20s and 30s through the "Know Your Vascular Numbers" campaign.

Shin Sookhee, head of the Central Health Center, stated, "The younger generation is no longer in a safe zone when it comes to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. We will do our utmost to encourage healthy lifestyle habits and preventive management so that citizens can maintain a healthy life throughout their lifetime."

The Central Health Center in Gimcheon City is also conducting various projects to prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

They operate promotional booths for disease prevention and management at various locations such as companies, schools, and events. In addition, they are actively running programs such as financial support for diabetes complication tests and self-management classes for hypertension and diabetes.
