Emphasis on the Need for Efforts by All Countries to Stabilize the Situation
On the 10th, China expressed the need for efforts by all countries to stabilize the situation, mentioning South Korea and the United States' military cooperation and sanctions against North Korea.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing that day, "We have paid attention to reports related to (North Korea's missile launch), and also to North Korea's recent multiple statements regarding the military, diplomatic, and sanction-related trends involving the United States and South Korea."
Spokesperson Mao stated, "We hope that the relevant parties will face the root causes of the Korean Peninsula issue directly, uphold the major direction of political resolution, and strive to ease tensions and safeguard regional peace and stability."
According to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, North Korea launched several ballistic missiles toward the West Sea from inland Hwanghae Province at around 1:50 p.m. that day.
North Korea's ballistic missile launch was the first in about two months since January 14 and the first since President Trump's inauguration on January 20.
