Funding for self-development and hobby classes up 49% year-on-year
Unique classes like calligraphy and ballet attract Hobbyshumers
Wadiz announced on the 10th that funding in the self-development and hobby sectors increased by 49% in January and February this year compared to the same period last year.
Wadiz explained that its unique classes such as calligraphy, ballet, and illustration are gaining great popularity among 'Hobbyshumers (Hobby+Consumer)' who actively explore hobbies. The growth trend in the self-development sector has continued since last year. Looking at projects opened last year in the e-book and class categories, self-development accounted for 27%, classes 11%, and hobbies 4%, making up a total of over 40%. The funding amount also increased by 67% compared to the same period last year.

In particular, as supporters seeking new challenges through hobbies increased at the beginning of the year, the number of supporters participating in the self-development sector surged more than 2.5 times compared to the same period last year. For example, the 'Calligraphy Class' run by the author of 'Migotche' raised 400 million KRW within 4 days of starting funding and surpassed 500 million KRW in less than two weeks. The online lecture 'Interval Ballet Fit,' taught by a ballet coach with 20 years of experience, attracted about 900 students and succeeded in raising 230 million KRW. The 'iPad Drawing' funding presented by illustrator 'Neulgeurim' ranked first among drawing projects this year.
A Wadiz official said, "As consumers increasingly value finding and investing in their own tastes, interest in unique hobby and self-development related classes on Wadiz is rising," adding, "We plan to actively introduce classes that meet the needs of supporters seeking novelty and add specialness to everyday life."
