Public Debate on Gwangju City Urban Planning Ordinance Amendment to Be Held on the 11th

Gwangju City and the City Council will hold a public debate on the "Urban Planning Ordinance Amendment," which includes raising the current residential floor area ratio in the central commercial district.

On the 10th, Gwangju City announced that a public debate focusing on the key issues of the ordinance will be held by the city and the city council on the KBS Gwangju program "Live Debate 740" at 7 p.m. on the 11th.

Participants in the debate will include Kim Junyoung, Director of Urban Space at the city, and Noh Kyungsoo, a professor at Gwangju University, representing the city; and Park Pilsun, Chair of the Industrial and Construction Committee, and Park Honggeun, an architect, representing the city council.

The debate will cover: ▲the positions of both sides regarding the Urban Planning Ordinance Amendment ▲the current situation in the central commercial district and the impact of raising the residential floor area ratio ▲ways to address issues with the ordinance and achieve the purpose of the amendment ▲policy alternatives to revitalize the local economy ▲handling of the request for reconsideration and future urban planning. Gwangju City, the City Council, and experts are expected to discuss these topics in depth.

The debate will be broadcast live on KBS1 TV from 7:20 p.m. The program will start 20 minutes earlier than usual, at 7:20 p.m., and continue until 8:30 p.m. It will also be streamed live on YouTube, and after the TV broadcast ends at 8:30 p.m., the live stream will continue on YouTube until 9 p.m. The YouTube channels are "KBS Gwangju," Gwangju City's internet broadcast "Hello Gwangju," and "Gwangju City Council."

Meanwhile, after the Urban Planning Ordinance Amendment passed the Gwangju City Council plenary session on the 12th of last month, Gwangju City proposed a public debate to the city council the following day.
