Gwangju Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) announced on the 10th that it has signed a business agreement with the Gwangju Biennale Foundation to promote mutual development and active exchanges through culture and the arts.
The reason for this agreement stems from the successful establishment of an art platform led by the local creative community through collaborative projects during the 15th Gwangju Biennale and the 3rd Yangnim Alley Biennale, both of which concluded successfully last year.
During the 15th Gwangju Biennale, a total of eight main exhibitions and five pavilion exhibitions were held in Yangnim-dong. After the event, the Gwangju Biennale gathered opinions to expand the pavilion exhibitions, focusing on Yangnim-dong, which is known as the birthplace of Gwangju's modern historical culture.
With the signing of this agreement, the two organizations have decided to cooperate and jointly plan individual projects related to the revitalization of culture and the arts and the development of the local community. They also agreed to collaborate on domestic and international promotion and marketing efforts.
Kim Byungnae, District Mayor, stated, "Not only will this provide local residents with opportunities to enjoy high-quality culture and arts such as the Biennale, but it is also expected to greatly contribute to increasing the number of tourists visiting Yangnim-dong."
Kim Yoseong, Secretary General of the Gwangju Biennale, said, "This is also significant from a cultural and artistic perspective, as it promotes the enjoyment of art and the activation of international exchanges through the Gwangju Biennale."
