On the 10th, mayors and governors affiliated with the Democratic Party of Korea issued a statement regarding the release and impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk-yeol, declaring, "The release of President Yoon Suk-yeol is a legal mishap that goes against the public's sense of justice and common sense," and "We strongly urge the Constitutional Court to promptly decide on Yoon Suk-yeol's removal from office in accordance with the people's mandate."

In a joint statement, the five local government heads?Kang Gi-jung, Mayor of Gwangju; Kim Young-rok, Governor of South Jeolla; Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi; Kim Kwan-young, Governor of North Jeolla; and Oh Young-hoon, Governor of Jeju?said, "Many citizens are outraged and condemning the fact that the judiciary's decision to calculate the detention period by 'hours' instead of 'days' was first applied to the cancellation of Yoon Suk-yeol's detention, and that the prosecution gave up its immediate appeal."

They continued, "While the subordinates involved in the rebellion remain in custody, the ringleader who orchestrated the rebellion is brazenly mocking the public, a reality the people simply cannot understand," adding, "Despite the fact that the December 3 Martial Law has degraded the national dignity of the Republic of Korea and devastated the economy, Yoon Suk-yeol, far from showing any remorse or apology, is inciting his far-right supporters and driving the country toward civil war."

They stressed, "The removal of Yoon Suk-yeol is both justice and the spirit of the times. If someone who still believes martial law was justified and supported by the people is reinstated as president after impeachment is dismissed, it is terrifying to imagine what he might do," and added, "He will surely declare a second martial law and tear the country apart. The impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol is a matter of the nation's survival."
