Presentation of Research on Supporting Elementary School Students' Adaptation to School Life
Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced that Lee Jiyu, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Education at the Graduate School (advisor: Cho Gyupan), received the Encouragement Award at the 'Graduate Student Thesis Competition' hosted by the Korean Association of Youth Studies.
The Korean Association of Youth Studies holds an annual thesis competition for graduate students in fields related to youth studies (such as education, sociology, social welfare, social education, psychology, etc.) and awards outstanding papers.
Lee Jiyu received the Encouragement Award for her paper titled "The Mediating Effects of Emotional Intelligence and Self-Regulation Ability on the Relationship Between Social Support and School Life Adaptation in Elementary School Students."
The content of this paper highlights the importance of social support, emotional intelligence, and self-regulation ability, which influence elementary school students' adaptation to school life.
Lee Jiyu stated, "As the number of students struggling to adapt to school life has increased after the COVID-19 era, I am honored that my research, which began with the question of what elementary school students need to adapt at the starting point of their school life, has been positively evaluated. I am truly grateful to Professor Cho Gyupan for his valuable advice and encouragement throughout the research process. I will continue to conduct meaningful and valuable research for students."
Previously, Lee Jiyu was also selected as an Outstanding Graduate Student (Dong-A University Centennial Academic Research Scholarship recipient) at Dong-A University.
The Graduate School of Dong-A University has consistently produced awardees at the Korean Association of Youth Studies thesis competition in 2021, 2023, and 2024.
