Jeju Daedong "Aiming for 800,000 Tourists This Year"

Future Agriculture Tourism Complex to Be Developed in Aewol, Jeju
Comprising 210,000 Pyeong and Three Distinct Zones

Jeju Daedong, a future agriculture tourism complex development company under Daedong Group, announced on the 10th that it plans to create a tourist destination attracting 800,000 visitors this year, centered around Jejudang Bakery Cafe and Arte Kids Park, which drew about 540,000 visitors last year.

Since 2013, Jeju Daedong has been developing the Greenscape tourism complex on a 210,000-pyeong site near Saebyeol Oreum in Aewol-eup, Jeju City, consisting of three zones: the Public Zone, the Private Zone, and the Smart Zone. The 'Public Zone' offers various attractions for tourists, including commercial facilities, walking trails, and gardens. The 'Private Zone' comprises accommodation and community facilities such as hotels, condos, spas, and equestrian centers, while the 'Smart Zone' houses a future agriculture R&D center, smart farms, and experiential facilities.

Jeju Daedong launched the 'Public Zone,' the first phase of the tourism complex development, opening Jejudang Cafe and Arte Kids Park in May last year. Jejudang Cafe is popular for its distinctive bakery menu items shaped like agricultural products such as tangerines, sweet potatoes, and carrots, as well as food and beverage menus made using crops cultivated in smart farms. Additionally, various agriculture-themed sculptures and interior designs, along with the large-scale botanical garden 'Great Field,' spanning approximately 85,000 square meters, have received great responses from tourists, attracting a total of 330,000 visitors since opening.

Arte Kids Park is an indoor kids cafe offering diverse experiential spaces in collaboration with District, a leading domestic media art content group. It provides differentiated experiences such as 'Live Sketchbook,' where drawings made by children are realized as wall media art; 'Sand Beach,' where children can enjoy beach sand play indoors; and 'Art Play,' where children can play in spaces colored with various hues. To date, it has attracted 210,000 visitors.

This year, Jeju Daedong aims to significantly expand attractions by continuously renovating Jejudang’s food and beverage menu, reorganizing lighting to attract nighttime tourists, developing agriculture-themed goods, hosting pop-up stores through collaborations with other brands, attracting promising shops within Jeju, and operating special sales venues for agricultural products from nearby villages. The goal is to establish its Greenscape tourism complex as a major tourist attraction in Jeju. Furthermore, by creating resting spaces such as walking trails for tourists and local residents, the company plans to set a model for tourism development that contributes to the local community.

Alongside this, the company will actively promote the development of the second phase, the 'Private Zone.' This includes a complex commercial facility, a membership spa, a 195-room hotel, and a 70-room condo operated under a consignment management contract with Chosun Hotel & Resort. After completing design and construction permit preparations this year, construction is scheduled to begin in 2026. Additionally, smart farms and related facilities for large-scale research on functional specialized crops developed by Daedong will also be developed.

Im Yehwan, General Manager of Jeju Daedong, stated, "Jeju Daedong’s project is not merely real estate development but a tourism complex development leading future agriculture. Through various region-based businesses, we aim to establish a win-win model with Jeju Island and make Jeju Daedong the forward base for Daedong’s future businesses in green bio and food tech."
