Eagle Rescued in Busan Flies Powerfully from Goseong County, Gyeongnam to Mongolia A rescued eagle takes off with powerful wing beats in Goseong.

Goseong County announced on the 10th that it had released the eagle back into the wild during the final "feeding the eagle" event, which marked the end of the eagle ecological experience program that ran from November 2023 to February 2024.

The eagle, which was found in an exhausted state in Busan due to lack of proper feeding activity, was rescued and treated at the Nakdonggang Estuary Eco Center (located in Saha District, Busan). After treatment, it was taken to Goseong County, known as the main eagle feeding site, and released to migrate back to Mongolia together with other eagles that had spent the winter in Goseong.

Five eagles were released in total. As part of an ongoing academic research project in Goseong County, GPS trackers were attached to three of them, while the remaining two were fitted with wing tags to monitor their future migration routes.

About 20 people attended the event, including Kim Deokseong, head of the Goseong branch of the Korea Association for Bird Protection, Seo Jinwon, director of the Nakdonggang Estuary Eco Center, and Goseong County ecological tourism guides, all cheering for the safe return of the released eagles to Mongolia.

County Governor Lee Sanggeun stated, "I am delighted that the rescued eagle can safely return to Mongolia. We will continue to pursue various activities for ecotourism and nature conservation in the future."

Meanwhile, the Goseong Eagle Ecological Experience Program is scheduled to be held again in November, when the eagles return.
