Yeongdeungpo-gu Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in Local Government Innovation Evaluation for Resident-Perceived Achievements Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has been selected as an excellent institution, the highest grade, in the "2024 Local Government Innovation Evaluation" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

This evaluation was conducted targeting 243 metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide, aiming to strengthen autonomous innovation capabilities and create tangible results for residents.

The district received excellent grades in innovation activity participation and internalization, improvement of resident services and elimination of administrative blind spots, innovation in work methods and organizational culture improvement, service improvement using digital technology, and public perception.

Notably, ▲ 2.2 billion KRW was recovered in local taxes through a new tax investigation method utilizing public big data ▲ real-time disclosure of officetel management fee execution details prevented damage to young tenants ▲ the resident network called ‘Yeongrihan Dolbomdan’ led to changes in residents’ lives through innovative policies preventing solitary deaths and welfare blind spots.

In particular, the ‘Caregiver Family Rest System,’ the first of its kind introduced by a local government nationwide, received attention in the ‘Public Perception Index.’ This system connects volunteers to families caring for elderly patients with dementia and other senile diseases, reducing the burden of ‘sole caregiving’ on family caregivers and establishing a local government-centered care protection system.

This achievement is the result of the efforts of the 8th elected administration to bring about changes that residents can feel in their daily lives. The district has reflected ‘what residents want’ in policies by directly listening to the voices of more than 5,400 residents through over 100 on-site meetings last year.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “This is the result of all employees working together with one heart and mind for the development of the district and the improvement of residents’ lives,” and added, “We will continue to implement innovative administration that serves as a model for other local governments by communicating closely with residents.”
