Civil society organizations in Gwangju strongly protested the decision to suspend the detention of former President Yoon Sukyeol, accusing prosecutors and the court of protecting insurrectionist forces.

On the 9th, the Gwangju Emergency Action for Immediate Resignation of the Yoon Sukyeol Regime and Social Reform issued a statement condemning the decision by the court and prosecutors, saying, "The mastermind of the insurrection, Yoon Sukyeol, walked out of the detention center with a smile."
The Emergency Action criticized the court's application of a new precedent regarding the calculation of detention periods to suspend the former president's detention as a "clear act of supporting insurrection." They also claimed that the refusal of Prosecutor General Sim Ujeong and senior prosecutors to file an immediate appeal and the release of the former president was "a ploy by vested interests to influence the Constitutional Court's ruling."
The Emergency Action urged the Constitutional Court to "promptly dismiss Yoon Sukyeol to end social chaos," and announced that they would enter emergency action until the former president's dismissal is decided. They also called for the unity of Gwangju citizens, declaring, "We will fight to the end against the insurrectionist forces."
