The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AmCham) is partnering with Gyeongsangbuk-do ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit to expand investment attraction from global companies.
On the 7th, AmCham announced on the 9th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gyeongsangbuk-do at The-K Hotel in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, attended by James Kim, Chairman and CEO of AmCham, and Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, to strengthen economic cooperation and revitalize investment attraction.
This agreement was pursued as part of strategic cooperation to actively attract investment from foreign-invested companies and to strengthen global economic cooperation linked to the 2025 APEC Summit.
Based on this agreement, the two organizations plan to closely cooperate to expand investment by global companies within Gyeongsangbuk-do and join forces to help Gyeongsangbuk-do leap forward as a global investment hub.

In particular, with this year’s APEC Summit being held in Gyeongju, the two organizations plan to promote APEC-related investment attraction, jointly host networking events, and pursue various cooperative activities such as discovering opportunities for collaboration with global companies.
Chairman James Kim said, "At this moment ahead of the APEC Summit, this cooperation will be an important opportunity to showcase Gyeongsangbuk-do’s investment potential and the strong resilience of the Korean economy to the world," adding, "We will do our best to work closely with Governor Lee Cheol-woo and the Korean government to facilitate meaningful discussions between global corporate executives and policymakers."
Governor Lee said, "Cooperation with AmCham will be an important opportunity to successfully host the 2025 APEC Summit and for Gyeongsangbuk-do to leap forward as a global economic hub," adding, "Through this MOU, we will do our best to ensure that American companies recognize Gyeongsangbuk-do as the optimal location for investment."
AmCham has been signing agreements with local governments to promote partnerships and cooperation with global companies investing in Korea. Previously, it also signed MOUs with Jeollanam-do and Goyang Special City, among others.
