Planting 2,000 Spring Flowers in Pots
Rose Pruning, Fertilizing, and More
Pohang City will hold the 'Spring Greeting at Yeongildae Rose Garden' event with citizens at the city's representative landmark, Yeongildae Rose Garden, on the 13th.
This event, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., will provide an opportunity for local self-governing organizations, non-profit groups in the green sector, and citizens to participate in pruning the roses at Yeongildae Rose Garden.
In addition, 2,000 spring flowers including pansies and two other varieties will be planted in circular flower pots, and activities such as fertilizing will continue as part of the efforts to maintain the Yeongildae Rose Garden.
By applying slow-release solid fertilizer in the spring, when rose growth activity begins in earnest, nutrients are gradually absorbed into the soil, providing long-lasting effects.
Spring pruning of roses also helps with ventilation, prevents pests and diseases, and concentrates nutrients, allowing for the blooming of beautiful roses.
Shin Kangsoo, head of the Green City Project Division, said, "We hope that Pohang citizens will feel the freshness of spring and connect with nature at Yeongildae Rose Garden as all living things come to life in the new season," adding, "We hope this will be a good opportunity for citizens to develop a sense of care and affection by directly tending to roses in Pohang, the city of ten million roses."
