"Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung Will Pay the Price"
Park Chan-dae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, directly criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 8th, saying that "the greatest responsibility for the release lies with the prosecution, and at the center of it is Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung."
On the same day, at an emergency party meeting in the National Assembly following President Yoon's release, Floor Leader Park said, "Prosecutor General Shim must definitely pay the price."
He raised his voice, saying, "I was very shocked and cannot tolerate the prosecution's failure to file an immediate appeal, which led to Yoon Seok-yeol's release. They wasted time without immediate prosecution, and although an immediate appeal is possible under the Criminal Procedure Act, they released Yoon Seok-yeol."
He added, "I have never seen the prosecution not appeal a court decision and release someone so willingly as this time. Unless they used cunning tactics from the start to release him, this is an event that rarely happens."
Floor Leader Park emphasized, "This is clear evidence that the rebellion is still ongoing. The prosecution has committed an unforgivable great sin before the people and history, beyond denying its own existence."
He said, "As soon as the detention cancellation ruling was issued, stocks plummeted and the exchange rate soared, amplifying the national crisis and public confusion. Leaving this chaos unattended is a path to national ruin. The swift dismissal of Yoon Seok-yeol is the most certain way to end this crisis and confusion."
Floor Leader Park requested, "I ask the Constitutional Court to deliver the impeachment ruling as soon as possible," and added, "What the Constitutional Court must do is to uphold the constitutional order based on the spirit of the Constitution. The National Assembly will do what it must do."
He continued, "With the same spirit as when we gathered beyond the National Assembly fence on December 3rd, we will fight alongside the people for the dismissal of the rebel leader Yoon Seok-yeol and the complete end of the rebellion. We will do everything in our power to protect the constitutional order and democracy and to build a strong country that will never be shaken again."
He also criticized President Yoon's behavior at the time of his release. Floor Leader Park said, "Today, as he came out of the detention center, Yoon Seok-yeol staged a scene as if he had succeeded in martial law by exposing armed security guards. It was a mix of absurdity, despair, and anger. I also thought he still cannot let go of his obsession with martial law."
He stated, "For the country, the people, and history, he must be punished without fail. Even though he was released from the detention center, Yoon Seok-yeol is still the suspended rebel leader. The whole nation watched live the atrocities committed by Yoon Seok-yeol. No matter how much he spouts sophistry and incites with lies, the crime does not disappear."
