Injecting Young Energy into Traditional Markets
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is recruiting participants for the 'Traditional Market Vacant Store Startup Support Project.'
This project utilizes vacant stores in traditional markets to provide operational opportunities to young and middle-aged individuals who wish to start a business. It aims to revitalize the aging traditional markets by injecting young energy, achieving both market revitalization and job creation.
The business locations include 4 stores in Sinseong Traditional Market and 1 store in Junggok Jeil Alley Market, totaling 5 stores. Anyone aged 19 to 49 registered as a resident in Gwangjin-gu without a business registration can apply. Preference is given to those who have completed startup education and those with awards related to startups, while those with tax delinquencies or defaults on financial institution debts are not supported.
The recruitment fields are ▲items that can enhance the brand value of traditional markets ▲business types that can maintain offline store operations ▲business types suitable for image-making as a young traditional market ▲business types that can develop together with existing merchants. Gambling and entertainment businesses are excluded.
The support includes full deposit and 50% of the rent for 2 years from the start of the project. Management fees and interior costs must be borne by the applicant.
The application period is until March 17, and applicants must submit documents such as the application form, self-capability statement, and business plan via email to the person in charge. After the first document screening and second interview screening, the final selection results will be announced on March 28 on the district website. Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Traditional markets need a generational change where various age groups blend through the influx of young people. This project was prepared after repeated consideration to solve the challenges of market revitalization and job provision at once. As the project scope has been expanded to allow various groups to grow together, we hope for active interest and participation from young and middle-aged people.” He also stated, “Traditional markets are an important asset forming the foundation of the local economy. We will continue to actively discover and promote projects that invigorate traditional markets.”
