Yangsan Women's Association Council Holds International Women's Day Promotion Campaign

The Yangsan City Women's Association in Gyeongnam held a promotional campaign to commemorate International Women's Day (March 8) on the afternoon of the 7th at the Sindongjung 1 Public Parking Lot area.

International Women's Day is a day to celebrate women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements and to call for action towards gender equality. It was officially designated as a commemorative day by the United Nations in 1975. This year's slogan, "Accelerate Action," emphasizes the need for strong momentum to achieve complete gender equality.

This campaign was organized to inform citizens about the significance of International Women's Day and to promote the spread of a gender-equal culture. It was held in conjunction with the Yangsan City Department of Livelihood Economy's "Leap On (ON) Alley Festa," and also included a violence prevention campaign by the Department of Women and Youth.

At the campaign site, a promotional booth was set up, and leaflets, roses, and cookies were distributed so that citizens could easily understand International Women's Day and become interested in spreading a culture of gender equality.

Jeon Jeongae, president of the Yangsan City Women's Association, said, "Through this campaign, our goal is for many citizens of Yangsan City to recognize the importance of gender equality and to achieve complete gender equality based on this awareness," adding, "Since this requires ongoing efforts rather than a one-time campaign, we will continue to carry out various activities in the future."

Lee Seongmi, head of the Department of Women and Youth, said, "Yangsan City will also continue its efforts to promote a culture of gender equality and to create a women-friendly city."
