Damyang County in Jeollanam-do is strengthening its community-based healthcare system by promoting projects such as the 'Home Care Medical Center for Long-term Care', 'Our Village Family Doctor', and 'Visiting Community Health Keeper' to address medical blind spots.

The 'Home Care Medical Center', which has been selected for two consecutive years for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Home Care Medical Center project, serves long-term care beneficiaries who are deemed by doctors to have difficulty using medical institutions due to limited mobility. Public health center doctors, nurses, and social workers visit these patients' homes to provide medical treatment, nursing care, and connections to community care services.

The 'Visiting Community Health Keeper' project is carried out at senior centers and includes blood pressure and blood sugar checks, health consultations, chronic disease prevention education, and CPR practice, helping seniors manage their health and improve their ability to respond to emergencies.

The 'Our Village Family Doctor' program involves public health doctors and staff from local health branches visiting the homes of medically vulnerable residents to assess their health status, provide appropriate medication management and counseling, and offer a variety of healthcare services such as chronic disease prevention and management, dementia and depression screening, counseling, and education. This program has received a great response from the community.

Jung Gwangsun, Acting County Governor, said, "We will continue to push forward with the construction of a new public health center and the renovation and maintenance of health branches and clinics to provide high-quality healthcare services to local residents. We will do our best to ensure that seniors can enjoy a healthy old age in their own communities."
