Lee Jun-seok, a member of the Reform New Party, pointed out "poor handling" regarding the cancellation of President Yoon Seok-yeol's detention on the 7th and demanded that the heads of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency and the Prosecutor General clarify their positions.
On the same day, through social media (SNS), Lee said, "It seems that President Yoon Seok-yeol's detention was canceled due to a procedural error by the prosecution concerning the inclusion of the detention review period after arrest," adding, "The court's judgment must be respected, and I deeply regret the poor handling by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) and the prosecution in such a critical matter."
He pointed out, "There have been criticisms regarding deficiencies in the laws related to the CIO, and the very existence of the CIO has become problematic."
He also demanded accountability from the prosecution and the CIO. Lee said, "I demand a prompt clarification of positions from the Prosecutor General and the head of the CIO, who hold command responsibility for causing this confusion."
