"Visit to Explore the Global Business Hub"

Why did faculty members and graduate students from Florida International University in the United States gather at the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ)?


The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Park Sungho) announced on the 7th that more than 40 faculty members and graduate students from the College of Business at Florida International University (FIU) visited its headquarters on the 6th.


They are participating in a global business field study program to experience the core projects and investment environment of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone.


Florida International University is a prestigious research-oriented comprehensive university located in the southeastern state of Florida, USA, established in 1965. It is ranked 7th among research institutions in the United States, and its College of Business has received AACSB accreditation. The university is also highly regarded, ranking 2nd among international business graduate schools and 11th among business schools in the United States.


The participants in this program are graduate students from the United States, Switzerland, and Italy, working in fields such as manufacturing, IT, healthcare, biotechnology, and education.


On this day, the visiting group attended a briefing at the BJFEZ promotional center on the history and development process of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone. They also listened to explanations on investment attraction status and economic strengths, followed by a Q&A session.


The BJFEZ Authority stated that the delegation showed great interest in the Tri-port logistics infrastructure?integrating port, airport, and railway?and the hinterland industrial complexes of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone.


An official from the investment attraction team, who led the briefing, said, "We prepared customized explanations and on-site guidance so that the group could directly experience the investment environment of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone. We will do our best to effectively communicate how the integrated logistics system with ports and railways provides an optimal operating environment for global companies and to explore opportunities for cooperation."


Afterward, the group learned about the competitiveness of Busan Port as a global transshipment hub, the development plans for the new airport on Gadeokdo, and the status of major projects in the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone. Busan New Port has established itself as a global logistics hub and continues to expand its infrastructure, increasing its influence in the Asia-Pacific market.


Commissioner Park Sungho said, "I hope this visit will serve as an opportunity to promote the competitiveness of the Free Economic Zone and further strengthen cooperation with overseas universities and research institutions. We will do our utmost to expand international cooperation and establish the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone as a global logistics and business hub."
