On the 7th, the 12th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge Park Jaesung) held the final trial for A (59), who was indicted and detained on charges of causing bodily injury resulting in death.

A is accused of assaulting his colleague B, also in his 50s, at a day laborers' dormitory in Dosan-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju on December 25 last year, leading to B's death.

According to the investigation, A, while intoxicated, became enraged and assaulted B after B entered his room and demanded living expenses, using abusive language. B suffered internal bleeding in the abdominal cavity due to the assault and was left unattended for four days after collapsing. On the 29th, another colleague, who found it suspicious that B had not shown up for work, discovered B dead in the dormitory.

Although A and B had known each other for 10 years, it was revealed that A harbored resentment because B, who was younger, used informal speech and abusive language toward him. A admitted to all charges in court.

The prosecution demanded a 10-year prison sentence for A, stating, "There is significant responsibility as the victim died after being left unattended following the assault."

The court is scheduled to hold the sentencing hearing for A on the 21st.
