Hong Nampyo Delivers Gratitude to Heroes
on Behalf of Changwon Citizens

On the 7th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam presented plaques of appreciation to six heroes who bravely saved citizens' lives and prevented major damage in emergency situations, expressing the gratitude of Changwon citizens.

The recipients of the plaques were two private paramedics from Gyeongnam Emergency Transport Team, Yang Hyungil and Lee Inhye, as well as four sailors from the Navy’s Yangyang ship: Sergeant Kim Taehyun, Corporal Kim Hyungrae, Sergeant Kwon Jeongnam, and Private First Class Park Seojun.

The private paramedics from Gyeongnam Emergency Transport Team were able to prevent a major accident by quickly extinguishing a car fire in Changwon Tunnel last February and stabilizing the situation until firefighters arrived.

Additionally, during a training dispatch in Pohang last January, sailors from the 5th Mine Landing Squadron of the Navy’s Yangyang ship performed emergency first aid to save the life of a Pohang citizen who had collapsed in a shopping area.

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “The courage and spirit of sacrifice shown by these heroes set a great example for our society,” and added, “As various safety accidents continue to occur, Changwon City will also do its utmost to ensure the safety of its citizens.”
