Establishment of Four Core Strategies
for Disaster Safety and Transportation Policy
Cheongsong County, North Gyeongsang Province, has set its 2025 goals for disaster safety and transportation policy as "A safe daily life created together, convenient transportation welfare enjoyed together," and will implement four core strategies to achieve these objectives.

The four core strategies are: ▲Strengthening response capabilities in safety blind spots and establishing emergency preparedness ▲Efficient response to natural disasters and swift establishment of emergency measures ▲Realizing a safe Cheongsong with zero major accidents ▲Improving public transportation usage and expanding traffic safety facilities to create a safe transportation environment.
First, to strengthen response capabilities in safety blind spots and establish emergency preparedness, the county will conduct intensive safety inspections on 40 vulnerable facilities in line with the trend of large-scale and frequent disasters and accidents. In addition, large-scale joint drills between the public and private sectors will be carried out to prepare for landslide risks caused by heavy rains or typhoons.
To reduce the economic burden on residents from unexpected accidents, the county will renew its resident safety insurance, providing coverage for 34 items including injuries and deaths from natural disasters. Starting this year, support for diagnosis costs related to heat and cold-related illnesses will also be added.
Furthermore, to respond to the increasing number of unpredictable non-military security threats, the county will enhance civil defense training and Ulchi exercises, and strengthen local integrated defense capabilities in cooperation with relevant agencies.
Next, as extreme weather events such as heavy rain, snow, cold waves, and heat waves become more common, the county will establish thorough preparedness for natural disasters to enable efficient response and rapid emergency measures.
To protect residents' lives and property and prevent disasters, a total of 3.26 billion KRW will be invested in maintenance projects for two high-risk steep slope areas in Deok-ri, Cheongsong-eup and Gigok, Jinbo-myeon. Additionally, 140 million KRW will be used to establish smart measurement and management systems at Daejeoncheon in Bunam-myeon and Bugokcheon in Hyeondong-myeon to prevent damage from heavy rainfall.
The county also plans to minimize damage by applying for a comprehensive maintenance project for flood-prone areas in the Jinbo-myeon district (2023-2026).
Policies to prevent major accidents will also be strengthened. Intensive safety inspections will be conducted at workplaces under Cheongsong County, and thorough implementation of risk assessments, regular and comprehensive inspections, work environment measurements, supervisor training, and collection of worker feedback will be carried out to create a safe work environment.
In particular, with the goal of achieving ZERO major accidents, the county will focus on thoroughly implementing safety and health measures at subcontracted, consigned, and service workplaces as well as public facilities to create safer workplaces.
Lastly, to improve public transportation usage and expand traffic safety facilities, the county will conduct biannual traffic safety campaigns with volunteer organizations and relevant agencies, and continue to operate the voluntary driver's license return support system for elderly drivers to raise traffic safety awareness.
Additionally, 106 million KRW will be invested in the distribution of traffic safety facilities to improve 17 accident prevention sites, and road environments will be maintained to reduce traffic accident rates. In particular, the operation of free buses, 1,000 KRW taxis, and special transportation vehicles for the transportation disadvantaged is expected to reduce the economic burden on residents and promote transportation welfare.
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "We will focus administrative efforts to realize 'Safe Cheongsong, Disaster-Free Cheongsong' in 2025," and added, "We ask for active participation and generous advice from residents to create a safe daily life together."
