The May organizations strongly condemned the remarks made by Chun Doo-hwan's eldest son, Chun Jae-guk, at a forum opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol, stating that mentioning "election fraud conspiracy theories" and "Chinese Communist Party intervention claims" constitutes incitement to rebellion.

The three official May 18 organizations (Association of the Injured, Association of Meritorious Persons, and Association of Bereaved Families) and the May 18 Memorial Foundation issued a statement on the 7th, saying, "Chun Jae-guk, the eldest son of Chun Doo-hwan, said at a far-right forum on the 17th of last month, which argued against the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol, 'Are we truly prepared to shed blood?'" They continued, "This is a clear act of inciting rebellion, a dangerous and reckless remark that denies democracy and promotes violence."

The organizations stated, "Chun Jae-guk repeated the 'election fraud conspiracy theories' and 'Chinese Communist Party intervention claims' spread by far-right forces, and even added that 'there is no easy way to subdue them.' For a descendant of Chun Doo-hwan, who led the December 12 military coup, to once again make remarks inciting rebellion is an act that tramples on the rule of law and democracy in the Republic of Korea."

They further noted, "It is no coincidence that Chun Doo-hwan's family joined an event where slogans such as 'invalidate impeachment' and 'dissolve the Constitutional Court'?directed at the Constitutional Court, a constitutional institution of the Republic of Korea?were raised," adding, "This is a clear signal that the descendants of military dictatorship are once again attempting to trample on democracy."

Additionally, they stated, "We urge the prosecution to immediately investigate and take legal action regarding Chun Jae-guk's remarks inciting rebellion," and added, "The government must not overlook the acts of incitement to rebellion by far-right forces and the Chun Doo-hwan family, but respond firmly."
