People Power Party Chungnam Branch: "Our Party Not Involved in NEC Holiday Gift Allegation"

Urges Democratic Party to Clarify Through Statement on the 7th

The Chungnam Provincial Party of the People Power Party stated on the 7th, ahead of the Asan mayoral by-election, regarding the election commission's accusation that a head of a private organization provided holiday gifts to support a certain preliminary candidate, "Our internal investigation confirms that this matter is unrelated to our party."

They also urged the Democratic Party and preliminary candidate Oh Sehyun to provide explanations.

The Chungnam Provincial Party said, "Recently, the Chungnam Election Commission accused private organization head A of providing holiday gifts to help a specific preliminary candidate, filing the case with the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office," adding, "Our internal investigation confirms that our party's candidate (Jeon Mankwon) is not involved."

They continued, "The Public Official Election Act strictly prohibits not only candidates themselves but also any third-party donations for candidates," and urged, "We request the Democratic Party to verify the facts. Please confirm whether the party and its candidate are related to this incident."

They further stated, "Efforts for a fair election are the responsibility of all parties and candidates," demanding a sincere response from the Democratic Party and a prompt and strict investigation from the prosecution in accordance with law and principles.

Meanwhile, regarding this issue, a representative from Oh's preliminary candidate camp dismissed the allegation, saying, "We have no knowledge of this whatsoever."
