Applications Accepted Until April 4
Damyang County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 7th that it will be accepting nominations for the Damyang County Citizen Award and Honorary Citizenship Certificate in celebration of the 46th Damyang County Citizens’ Day on May 3.
Nominees for the 'County Citizen Award' must be either natives of Damyang or residents who have lived in the region for more than 10 years. The award is given in five categories: ▲Regional Development ▲Social Welfare (Environment/Health) ▲Education and Culture ▲Promotion of Sports ▲Industrial Economy. In particular, nominations are open to those who have contributed to sustainable community development, such as addressing population decline and supporting policies for multiple children and childbirth encouragement, among other fields.
The 'Honorary Citizenship Certificate' is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to regional development and the advancement of county administration. Eligible nominees include foreigners, overseas Koreans, and individuals from other regions. Only one person may be selected per category for the County Citizen Award, while there is no limit to the number of Honorary Citizenship Certificates awarded.
Nominations for the 'County Citizen Award' may be submitted by the Chairperson of the Damyang County Council, town and township heads, heads of various organizations, or individuals. In the case of individual nominations, signatures from at least 10 household heads are required. For the 'Honorary Citizenship Certificate,' nominations may be made by heads of organizations, department heads, town and township heads, or individuals, with individual nominations requiring signatures from at least 20 county residents aged 20 or older.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Damyang County Office website under the notices and announcements section. Completed documents must be submitted to the Administration Team of the Damyang County Office by April 4. For more details, please contact the county office’s Administration Division.
A county official stated, “We kindly ask for the active participation and interest of our citizens so that many exemplary candidates who represent the unity and development of our community may be nominated.”
Meanwhile, since its inception in 1980, a total of 147 individuals have received the 'County Citizen Award,' and since 2004, 58 people have been selected for the 'Honorary Citizenship Certificate.'
