Ulju County Conducts Intensive Crackdown on Illegal Farmland Filling... 19 Cases Detected

Ulsan Ulju-gun announced on the 7th that it had uncovered 19 cases of illegal landfilling on farmland through intensive crackdowns conducted from December last year to last month.

In response to the ongoing occurrence of illegal activities on farmland, such as illegal landfill of waste, Ulju-gun organized joint inspection teams consisting of the Urban Division at the county office (three teams of three people each, two drones), the Building Permit Division (Farmland Team), and local towns and townships to carry out inspections.

The inspections covered: △on-site guidance and crackdown on illegal landfilling on farmland △confirmation of sites where restoration to original state was not implemented after illegal activities △checking for landfill of recycled aggregates and inorganic sludge, among other things.

As a result, Ulju-gun detected a total of 19 illegal activities and plans to proceed with administrative actions and criminal charges against the offenders in accordance with the “National Land Planning and Utilization Act” and the “Farmland Act.”

Furthermore, if restoration to the original state is not carried out, Ulju-gun will implement step-by-step administrative enforcement measures depending on the scale of the illegal activity, the extent of surrounding damage, and the degree of public interest infringement, taking strong administrative action against illegal acts.

In addition, Ulju-gun plans to focus on promotional activities to fundamentally block illegal landfilling by distributing guidebooks and informational videos about development activities.

An official from Ulju-gun stated, “There will be no leniency, and we will take strict action in accordance with principles regarding illegal landfilling on farmland,” adding, “We will strengthen patrols and inspections to eradicate illegal landfilling and ensure that proper landfilling practices are established so that residents do not suffer any harm.”
