Kia Wins UK Car of the Year for Two Consecutive Years Following Last Year's EV9
Kia's dedicated electric vehicle has claimed the top spot in the UK for two consecutive years.
Kia announced on the 7th that the EV3 was selected as the '2025 UK Car of the Year.' The UK Car of the Year is chosen annually by a panel of 31 judges, mainly industry journalists specializing in automobiles, business, and technology who are active in the UK, by evaluating and voting on cars released within the past 12 months.
The Kia EV3 was chosen as the best car in the small crossover category during the first round of judging last month. It then went on to win the top award, surpassing competing models that were named the best in their respective categories, including ▲Hyundai Santa Fe (large crossover category) ▲Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (high-performance car category) ▲Suzuki Swift (small car category) ▲Skoda Superb (family car category) ▲Mini Countryman (mid-size crossover category) ▲Polestar Polestar 4 (business category).
With this award, Kia has secured the Car of the Year title in the UK for two consecutive years, following last year's EV9, in a market that is emerging as a fierce battleground for electric vehicles. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), new registrations of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in the UK increased by 21.4% year-on-year to 381,970 units last year, accounting for 19.6% of the total industry demand of 1,952,778 units.
John Callan, co-chair of the UK Car of the Year, said, "Kia has successfully expanded its EV portfolio with the EV3 following the EV6 and EV9. The EV3 stood out with its specifications, driving range, and striking design, beating strong competitors."
A Kia representative stated, "We are confident that the EV3 will become a popular and accessible choice for customers in the UK, where the number of people choosing electric vehicles is increasing."
