Orchestra 'Arirang' Recruits New Members
Connecting Tradition and Dreams Through Music

The Gwangju Koryoin Village Youth Orchestra 'Arirang' has begun recruiting new members and started rehearsals for the new semester. Founded in 2018, this orchestra operates to continue the musical traditions of Koryoin ancestors and to nurture the talents of young people.

According to Koryoin Village on the 7th, the orchestra has been holding annual regular concerts with the support of Koryoin Village leaders, the local community, and Gwangju City. In this era of population decline, they are dedicated to discovering and developing the artistic talents of youth.


For this new recruitment, Koryoin youth specializing in various instruments are participating and holding regular ensemble practices every week. Director Jo Jeonghee said, "The new members are adapting quickly," and added, "It is encouraging to see them understand each other's cultures and grow together through music."


The orchestra is preparing for performances at local events and on various stages. Koryoin Village representative Shin Joyah stated, "We will spare no effort to support our youth so they can experience a broader world through music."


Koryoin Village plans to continue operating the orchestra alongside the children's choir, aiming to instill pride and confidence in the children of Koryoin compatriots.
