Chonnam National University, Foreign Exchange Students Respond Positively to 'Korean Education Tour' Jeonnam National University campus.

Chonnam National University’s newly established ‘DiscoverK’ program, launched for invited international exchange students starting from the second semester of last year, has been successfully operated and is receiving enthusiastic responses.


According to Chonnam National University on the 7th, ‘DiscoverK’, operated by the Office of Global Affairs (Director: Cho Jinhyung), is a program designed for international exchange students from Chonnam National University’s overseas partner universities. It allows them to directly plan and embark on domestic trips, providing opportunities to deeply experience Korean history and culture.


The program is operated in teams (up to 6 people), and each participant is provided with a travel grant of 100,000 won to help them plan trips more easily. In addition, participating students share their travel experiences through their personal social media, contributing to the international promotion of Chonnam National University and Korean culture.


In the first implementation in the second semester of the 2024 academic year, 62 international exchange students participated, traveling to various places across the country such as Jeonju, Busan, Yeosu, and Haenam, and experiencing Korean traditions and culture. One student who participated in the program said, “It was a special experience that went beyond simple sightseeing, allowing me to interact with friends and deeply understand Korean traditions,” and added, “As the name DiscoverK suggests, it was an interesting opportunity to discover Korea.”


An official from the International Cooperation Division of the Office of Global Affairs at Chonnam National University stated, “Reflecting the high satisfaction of students, we plan to increase the travel grant to 150,000 won from the first semester of the 2025 academic year and accept new applications,” and added, “Furthermore, we will continue to operate the program every semester to provide stronger support, so that international exchange students can experience Korean culture more easily and deeply.”
