Incheon City's "Cheonwon Housing" Draws Huge Interest
Hundreds of Applicants Crowd Registration on First Day
Applications Close on the 14th... Tenant Selection Announced in June
On the morning of the 6th, when applications for prospective Cheonwon Housing tenants began, the central hall of Incheon City Hall was bustling as about 200 households gathered all at once within 20 minutes of the start of the application. The application counters for Cheonwon Housing that day were crowded with newlyweds in their 20s and 30s, and households accompanied by pregnant women and newborns were also noticeable in various places.
Applications for Cheonwon Housing, which will be accepted until the 14th, are expected to supply 500 units in Incheon this year. Eligible applicants include newlyweds, prospective newlyweds, single-parent families, and single-person households. Priority is given in the order of households with newborns as first priority, newlyweds with children as second priority, and newlyweds without children as third priority. If competition occurs within the same priority, the final tenant ranking is determined through a point system. This project was prepared to provide housing stability and childcare support through affordable rent.
On the morning of the 6th, hundreds of citizens, including newlyweds, gathered at the application reception desk for prospective tenants of Cheonwon Housing, set up in the central hall on the first floor of the Incheon City Hall main building, waiting for their turn to apply. This year, income and asset criteria have been partially relaxed or changed. It is important to carefully check the announcement before applying. Interested newlyweds must prepare the necessary documents in advance, and detailed information about the recruitment can be found on the websites of Incheon City, Incheon Urban Corporation, and the My Home Portal.
Applications for prospective tenants will be accepted in person at Incheon City Hall until the 14th, and after the tenant selection announcement on June 5th, procedures such as housing allocation will follow, with move-in expected as early as the end of June. The rental period for Cheonwon Housing is initially 2 years, with support up to a maximum of 6 years.
On the same day, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok visited the Cheonwon Housing being prepared in Dohwa-dong, Michuhol-gu, together with five pairs of prospective newlywed tenants selected through the preliminary recruitment, saying, "I hope this project will serve as a foundation not only for simple housing support but also for newlyweds to have children and raise them happily," and added, "We will continue to do our best to stabilize citizens' lives through effective housing policies."
