Budget Focused on ‘Hoeyagang Renaissance’ Project as It Enters Full Swing
Incorporating New and Specialized Policy Initiatives and Suggestions from Town Hall Meetings
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam submitted the first supplementary budget for 2025 to the city council on the 6th, totaling 1.7964 trillion KRW, an increase of 99.9 billion KRW (5.89%) compared to the original budget.
The general account was set at 1.6046 trillion KRW, an increase of 77.6 billion KRW, and the special account was set at 191.8 billion KRW, an increase of 22.3 billion KRW.
According to Yangsan City, this supplementary budget was organized focusing on essential projects in line with the government's sound fiscal policy, with a particular concentration of project funds in the Ungsang area to actively promote the ‘Hoeyagang Renaissance’ initiative.
The main budget items include ▲30 billion KRW for the creation of Jujin Bulbit Park ▲1.6 billion KRW for the Hoeyagang riverside light line and the creation of cultural and historical spaces under the bridge ▲350 million KRW for the Hoeyagang riverside road widening and cultural space development project.
Compensation costs of 3.5 billion KRW were allocated for the construction of Yangsan Arboretum, a pledged project, which is expected to accelerate the project’s progress. Additionally, 9 billion KRW will be newly invested for construction and compensation costs on two urban planning roads in the Myeongdong and Sojudong areas, sequentially expanding the transportation network in eastern Yangsan.
Furthermore, out of 33 projects discussed in February to overcome the economic downturn by discovering new and specialized policies, a budget of 1.4 billion KRW was allocated to 11 projects that can be prioritized, aiming to swiftly implement policy projects to revitalize the local economy. Also, 1.3 billion KRW was allocated to 10 projects deemed immediately actionable from suggestions made during the early-year town and village roundtable meetings, actively addressing residents’ inconveniences.
In addition, ongoing projects to enhance citizen convenience and expand social infrastructure were steadily budgeted, including 3.8 billion KRW for the construction of Sasong Complex Community, 2.4 billion KRW for Chunchoo Park development, 2.4 billion KRW for landscape lighting improvement around Yeongdae Bridge and Cloud Bridge, 3 billion KRW for widening the industrial complex access road, and 6 billion KRW for the construction of Yangsan Urban Railway.
Mayor Na Dong-yeon said, “Despite difficult fiscal conditions, we focused on projects for economic revitalization and balanced regional development. Once the budget is approved, we will promptly execute it with full effort to improve citizen convenience and promote regional development.”
