Jung-gu, Daegu (Mayor Ryu Gyu-ha) announced on the 6th that it will promote the purchase of the Jung-gu Veterans Hall building near the Jung-gu Office to support the stable operation of veterans' organizations and improve the welfare of veterans' families.
Considering the necessity of the Veterans Hall, Jung-gu, Daegu signed a national property lease contract with the Korea Asset Management Corporation in 2023, underwent interior renovation, and opened the Veterans Hall in 2024, where currently eight veterans' organizations are housed and operating.
The building has a total floor area of 1,701㎡, with one basement floor and five above-ground floors. Since its completion in 1992, it was improved into an eco-friendly, low-carbon building through the government's 'Green Remodeling Project' in 2023.
However, since it is currently operated under a national property lease system, there is an annual lease fee burden, and prompt response to facility maintenance is difficult. Accordingly, Jung-gu plans to proceed with the purchase of the national property through phased procedures by July and establish an efficient management system to secure operational autonomy.
An official from the Jung-gu Office in Daegu stated, "Currently, eight veterans' organizations are housed in this building, and the annual rent amounts to 130 million KRW. After securing the budget in the supplementary budget, we plan to purchase the building around July. The purchase cost is expected to be around 4.9 billion KRW."
Ryu Gyu-ha, Mayor of Jung-gu, Daegu, said, "The Veterans Hall is an important space that supports the welfare of those who sacrificed for the country and their families. Through this purchase, we will secure the stability of veterans' organizations' operations and actively strive to ensure that veterans' families can receive various welfare benefits in a better environment."
