Mokwon University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation announced on the 6th that it has been selected as the lead institution for the ‘2025 Local Content Focus University’ project, organized by the Small Enterprise and Market Service under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The Local Content Focus University project aims to develop local content that combines creative ideas with the characteristics of regional resources and to nurture prospective entrepreneurs equipped with practical experience necessary for local startups.
Six universities nationwide are participating in this project: Mokwon University (Daejeon), Catholic Kwandong University (Gangneung, Gangwon), Kyung Hee University (Yongin, Gyeonggi), Busan University of Foreign Studies (Busan), Jeonju University (Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do), and Jaeneung University (Incheon).
Mokwon University has set the vision of ‘Collective Impact Hub for Nurturing Local Creators in the Chungcheong Region’ with core goals of ▲ 2,000 local collectors ▲ 200 local leaders ▲ 20 local prospective entrepreneurs ▲ establishment of a local creator hub.
Additionally, Mokwon plans to build a testbed centered on local anchor organizations and a local artisan network, and to include and operate a pool of local experts within the university’s certification system (Advanced Learning Certification System, Adjunct Professors, Open Badges) to foster regionally settled local creators.
President Hee-Hak Lee stated, “Mokwon University is positioning itself as a hub university for regional innovation by planning and executing cooperative programs that meet local demands, focusing on the university’s specialization areas. With this project selection as an opportunity, we will strive to contribute to regional-based startups and economic revitalization, and take a leading role in discovering excellent local content and nurturing entrepreneurs in the Chungcheong area beyond Daejeon.”
