Seo-gu Welfare Center for the Disabled, Cheomdan Family Medical Clinic, and Others Join the Project
On the 6th, the Seo-gu District Office in Gwangju signed a business agreement at the Nanum Hall of the Seo-gu District Office to promote the 'Establishment of a Community-Based Integrated Care System for Elderly Persons with Disabilities' project.
According to Seo-gu, the agreement was prepared so that elderly persons with disabilities can receive systematic care services in the community through cooperation between the Seo-gu District Office and the Seo-gu Welfare Center for the Disabled.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Seo-gu District Office, the Seo-gu Welfare Center for the Disabled, Cheomdan Family Medical Clinic, and Gwangju Center for Independent Living for the Disabled as a consortium.
In addition, the Gwangju Metropolitan Association of Daycare Facilities for the Disabled, Senior Integrated Clinic, Seo-gu Community Self-Sufficiency Center, Gwangju Bitgoeul Taxi Association, Gwangju Health University, and Ire Company Ltd. participated as partner organizations.
The 'Integrated Care Project for Elderly Persons with Disabilities' aims to provide customized, integrated support across various fields such as health, care, housing, social activities, and leisure for those who need care due to aging and disabilities as Korea enters a super-aged society.
In particular, the project provides services such as health management including a designated physician for persons with disabilities, customized daily living support (meals, laundry, etc.), rehabilitation and exercise prescriptions, and expanded opportunities for social participation, targeting elderly persons with disabilities who are unable to receive activity support services or who face care gaps.
Jung Changwook, Director of the Integrated Care Bureau, said, "Seo-gu has been promoting various projects that provide integrated support for medical care and caregiving over the past six years. Through this agreement, we will further strengthen the care system so that both seniors and persons with disabilities can benefit together."
Meanwhile, Seo-gu has been leading welfare administration by opening the nation's first home medical center in 2022 and introducing the only smart care service for the elderly in Korea.
In addition, Seo-gu is contributing to eliminating care blind spots in the region through mandatory visits for those aged 75 and older, operation of the Smart Care Information Center, systematic case management, and AI smart care services.
