Representative Hong Gihu Proposes Amendment
Aiming to Improve Housing Welfare for Residents
The Chungnam Provincial Council has established a basis to expand the scope of support for the management costs of multi-family housing, aiming to improve residents' living standards as the proportion of people living in such housing increases.
The Chungnam Provincial Council announced that at the 357th temporary session, 2nd plenary meeting, it reviewed and passed as originally proposed the "Partial Amendment Ordinance on the Management of Multi-family Housing in Chungcheongnam-do," which was initiated by Representative Hong Gihu (Dangjin 3, The Minjoo Party of Korea).
The amendment expands the number of supported items for multi-family housing management costs from the previous six to ten and newly establishes support for operating expenses of community revitalization programs, including local volunteer activities and childcare program operations. In addition, to ensure transparent and efficient audit operations, the amendment partially revises provisions related to multi-family housing audits to align with higher-level laws and regulations.
Representative Hong emphasized, "Recently, the proportion of residents living in multi-family housing, including apartments, has been increasing nationwide, and the trend is particularly steep in northern Chungnam. However, support policies for residents of multi-family housing have remained outdated, making this amendment continuously necessary."
He added, "One of the key aspects of this amendment is that it explicitly broadens support for facilities and equipment used for public purposes in multi-family housing and for disaster or safety-related support, given their importance and necessity."
