Daejeon Institute of Health and Environment Introduces AI-Based 'Daejeon Food Inspection Bot'

The Daejeon Institute of Health and Environment announced that it is operating the nation’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-based ‘Daejeon Food Inspection Bot’ among local governments.

The Daejeon Food Inspection Bot is an AI chatbot service easily accessible via KakaoTalk, providing customized guidance so that food manufacturing and processing companies can quickly and easily check self-quality inspection information.

It offers information on inspection targets, procedures, items, and fees for each food type, as well as an automatic notification feature aligned with inspection cycles to help prevent administrative penalties due to missed inspections. Additionally, it includes a function that allows users to easily and quickly search for and contact testing agencies.

Anyone can use the service for free by searching for the Daejeon Institute of Health and Environment on KakaoTalk or by scanning a QR code to add the channel.

Previously, the institute completed the first phase of distribution targeting food manufacturing, processing, and some instant food sales and processing businesses within its jurisdiction. The city plans to gradually expand the chatbot service to all 3,000 businesses in cooperation with the food hygiene departments of the city hall and district offices.

Shin Yonghyun, Director of the Daejeon Institute of Health and Environment, said, “The Daejeon Food Inspection Bot is the nation’s first AI-powered food self-quality inspection guidance service, and it will greatly help improve convenience for small food businesses and enhance accessibility to inspection services.”
