Gongju City in Chungnam Province announced on the 6th that it is recruiting residents for the stay-type small farm 'Gongjuyeo-U'.

The city will pilot the stay-type small farm 'Gongjuyeo-U' this year using the Local Extinction Response Fund to invigorate the local community and effectively address rural depopulation.

Located in the Hanbang Wellness Village, a rural experience and recreation village, the small farm consists of six mini two-story modular houses with lofts, each measuring 19.8㎡ (6 pyeong) and 9.9㎡ (3 pyeong).

Each house is equipped with amenities such as a television, washing machine, refrigerator, air conditioner and heater, and a private storage room, making long-term stays possible.

The deposit for the small farm is 500,000 KRW, and the annual rent is 4,800,000 KRW.

This year, tenants will pay 3,600,000 KRW for a 9-month stay from April to December, and the contract can be renewed once for an additional year after the initial term.

Eligibility is open to anyone who has lived outside Gongju City for at least one year prior to the announcement date and is a registered Onnuri Gongju citizen.

Applicants can visit or mail their applications to the City Hall's Regional Vitality Division from the 19th to the 21st of this month.

The city plans to announce the selected residents on the 27th, and move-in will be possible starting April 1.

Mayor Choi Woncheol said, "Starting with this stay-type small farm, we plan to gradually expand until 2026," adding, "We will establish a comprehensive plan to respond to local extinction, set a long-term vision, and implement various effective policies going forward."
