Hanwha Ocean Makes All-Out Effort to Secure Top Talent to Lead Future Shipbuilding and Marine Industry

Hanwha Ocean's efforts in talent recruitment are highly regarded as significant because, unlike domestic companies that are downsizing their hiring due to the global economic downturn, it is taking a proactive and aggressive approach.

Until recently, Hanwha Ocean has newly appointed about 500 new and experienced employees across various departments for 2024. Focusing on global capabilities and job competencies by merchant ship, offshore, and special ship business divisions, it hired approximately 300 new employees and 200 experienced workers who will lead the future marine industry paradigm.

To actively leverage the recovery trend in the merchant ship market, Hanwha Ocean assigned about 200 new employees to the Merchant Ship Business Division. Then, to keep pace with global business expansion, about 100 were assigned to the Offshore Business Division, and another 100 outstanding talents were appointed to the Special Ship Business Division to continue domestic and overseas business expansion, including entry into the overseas naval ship market. Additionally, about 100 new employees were placed in research and development and management support roles.

Recruitment of production staff, who will be key to operating smart shipyards, is also ongoing. Following last year, this year they are selecting core production personnel for ship outfitting, installation, sea trials, as well as advanced welding and processing. These employees will be deployed across major processes in the merchant ship, offshore, and special ship sectors.

Hanwha Ocean’s efforts to expand new hiring will continue this year as well. In fact, Hanwha Ocean began the recruitment process for new college graduate employees for the first half of 2025 on February 28.

The 2025 first half new employee recruitment is divided into a general track for those holding or expecting to graduate with a bachelor's degree from a four-year university and a global challenger track requiring global competencies.

The general track recruitment positions are broadly divided into four areas: design, production management, business management, and management support. The global challenger track accepts applications only for three positions: design, business management, and management support.

The recruitment process proceeds by selecting successful candidates through document screening, first-round practical interviews, and second-round executive interviews, followed by a two-month internship starting in June.

Detailed information about each job, eligibility criteria, and recruitment schedule can be found on the Hanwha Ocean recruitment information website, and the document submission period is until March 23.

A Hanwha Ocean official stated, “Centered on the four pillars of defense, eco-friendly, offshore wind power, and smart yard, we will continue various investments and large-scale recruitment of outstanding talents to achieve our goal of becoming a ‘Global Ocean Solution Provider.’”
