Inspections of 55 Hazardous Chemical Handling Sites
Maintenance of Evacuation Facilities and Fire Compartments to Be Checked
Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 6th that it will conduct intensive inspections of hazardous material storage facilities to prevent large-scale disaster accidents.
The inspection targets are 55 buildings registered as hazardous chemical handling workplaces. The city plans to guide each workplace to conduct self-inspections of their facilities for one month, and for workplaces with a total floor area of 1,000㎡ or more, the city inspection team will visit the site for direct inspections.
The main inspection items include the maintenance status of evacuation facilities such as whether combustible materials are stored in evacuation stairs and corridors, the maintenance status of fire compartments, management of fire-causing materials, and whether evacuation and fire suppression safety systems are established.
The city plans to mark buildings that do not comply with restoration orders for violations in the building register as violating buildings and impose enforcement fines.
A city official said, "We hope that on-site personnel will follow safety rules and be especially careful when handling hazardous chemicals to prevent accidents."
