Geochang-gun Confirms May Integrated Festival Name as 'Geochang-e On Spring Festival'

A New Spring Festival Brand is Born in Geochang

Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 6th that the name of the integrated festival, which combines various events such as the Arimia Flower Festival and the Wild Ginseng Festival held at Geochang Changpowon in May, has been finalized as the ‘Geochang-e On Spring Festival’.

After establishing the basic plan for the integrated festival in January, the county collected a total of 30 name submissions from public officials in February. The final name was decided after an internal preference survey.

‘Geochang-e On Spring Festival’ carries a double meaning of ‘Spring has come to Geochang’ and ‘Spring has been turned on (On) in Geochang.’ Additionally, ‘On (溫)’ represents the warm feelings of spring days, and ‘On (全)’ signifies a festival where everyone comes together, expressing a festival in Geochang where all generations can enjoy together amid the spring breeze.

The slogan for this festival was set as ‘A Magnificent Spring Day, Finding Rest at Changpowon!’ which conveys the meaning of a festival where visitors can heal their mind and body and fully enjoy themselves in the beautiful nature of Geochang Changpowon, the first local garden in Gyeongnam.

With this name confirmation, Geochang-gun has newly created a spring festival brand to represent the season alongside the △Summer Geochang International Theater Festival △Autumn Geochang Hanmadang Grand Festival △Winter Christmas Tree Festival, further strengthening Geochang-gun’s competitiveness as a year-round tourist destination.

Governor Gu In-mo stated, “Now that the new festival name has been decided, we will prepare so that people can enjoy Geochang’s nature, culture, and specialties all in one place,” adding, “I hope many people will experience the diverse festival programs along with the beautiful scenery of Changpowon and spend a time of healing and relaxation.”

Meanwhile, the integrated ‘Geochang-e On Spring Festival,’ held for the first time this year, will take place for four days from May 15 to 18 at Geochang Changpowon. During the festival, various events such as the Arimia Flower Festival, Geochang Wild Ginseng Festival, Social Economy Enterprise Expo, and Drone Soccer Tournament will be held. A meditation festival focusing on meditation and healing will also be hosted, promising to offer many tourists a fresh and new experience of Geochang.
