The meeting was organized to review each agency's response measures to various provocations by the North Korean military, discuss effective coordination strategies in case related situations arise, and confirm cooperation points among the agencies.

The province plans to secure the safety of its residents through proactive coordination meetings, as there are concerns that the North Korean military may attempt direct provocations in the border area under the pretext of the upcoming South Korea-U.S. joint FS (Freedom Shield) exercises scheduled from March.

Lee Soon-gu, Emergency Planning Officer of Gyeonggi Province, stated, “Localized provocations could occur at any time in our border areas,” adding, “Gyeonggi Province will continue to share situations with related agencies and maintain a cooperative system to build a security readiness posture, making every effort to ensure the safety of our residents.”
