Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 5th that it has been finally selected in two categories, ‘K-Drone Delivery Service’ and ‘Drone Leisure Sports,’ in the ‘2025 Drone Demonstration City Establishment Contest’ hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, receiving 880 million KRW in national funding.

Following last year's selection in the ‘K-Drone Delivery Service’ category, Pocheon City achieved success this year by being selected in the ‘Drone Leisure Sports’ category, themed around the largest drone light show (6,000 drones) in the nation, set against the backdrop of the Hantan River Global Geopark, renowned for its pristine natural scenery.
In particular, the city will be the first nationwide to promote a project for developing a public-private-military drone education program and establishing an education center utilizing FPV (First Person View) drones.
Plans include building an educational infrastructure reflecting the demand for FPV drones in public, private, and military sectors, which have recently gained attention due to events such as the Ukraine-Russia war, as well as hosting drone racing competitions.
In the ‘K-Drone Delivery Service’ category, reflecting the characteristics of the largest livestock farming area in northern Gyeonggi Province, the city will strengthen drone delivery by additionally introducing public quarantine medicines and goods delivery services using existing delivery bases.
Through this, the city aims to fundamentally block the spread of livestock infectious diseases and expand region-customized services utilizing drones.
A Pocheon City official stated, “We will not only successfully carry out the 2025 Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s drone demonstration city establishment project but also maintain close cooperation with the ministry by linking it with various drone industries independently promoted by the city. We will do our best to establish Pocheon City as a leading city in the drone industry.”
