Mayor Lee Dong-hwan stated, “For the sustainable growth of Goyang City, all public officials must adopt the mindset of urban managers to find ways to utilize the budget and execute it,” adding, “Entrusted operating agencies should establish their own operational systems to increase efficiency so that rational and productive benefits can return to the citizens, and continuous efforts should be made to raise the subsidy ratio for national and provincial matching projects.”

He also added, “Since our city’s financial management is directly linked to the lives of citizens, each department should promote proactive and responsible administration to achieve the rapid execution goals.”

Furthermore, Mayor Lee requested efforts to establish the city as a cultural and artistic city that visitors want to revisit, in relation to the large-scale performances and festivals held this year.

He said, “This year, global artists’ performances are scheduled, so many visitors are expected,” and urged, “Please prepare comprehensive promotional plans so that when people think of Goyang City, they can immediately associate it with a world-class performance city and cultural arts city.”

Mayor Lee also mentioned the hydrogen economy infrastructure in relation to the Gyeonggi-do Mini Hydrogen City creation project. He said, “In the global market, major companies in the US, Europe, and Japan are making large-scale investments and developing technologies in the hydrogen business,” and added, “Our city should devote great effort to the project so that an eco-friendly hydrogen economy ecosystem can be established through the Mini Hydrogen City.”

In addition, the mayor emphasized the importance of systematic landscape design for creating a dignified urban space. He requested, “To prevent indiscriminate urban development, please review the landscape even for buildings under 2,000㎡ that were not previously subject to landscape review, and create a dignified urban space.”

Mayor Lee also highlighted the importance of safety management during the thawing season in relation to the recent bridge collapse accident at the Anseong section of the Seoul-Sejong Expressway construction site. He said, “During the thawing season, the ground weakens and structures become unstable, so special attention must be paid to construction site safety management,” and emphasized, “Thoroughly inspect and prepare for risk factors and strengthen preventive measures.”

Meanwhile, at the executive meeting, reports on the rapid execution promotion status for the first half of the year by each department were presented, and major project plans such as the construction and operation of the Lifelong Learning Center, operation of the pilot area for the Education Development Special Zone, the KINTEX camping site agency project, and the creation of the Wondang public bus garage were also reviewed.
