The Majungmul Housewives Volunteer Group at Hyundai Steel's Dangjin Steelworks continues to practice unwavering love for their neighbors this year as well.
In February, the ninth group of the Majungmul Housewives Volunteer Group was newly formed with 40 spouses of Dangjin Steelworks employees, and after holding an inauguration ceremony, they began full-scale volunteer activities.
On the 5th, the group delivered recycled ice packs at Dangjin Traditional Market and also volunteered to serve meals at the Dangjin Senior Welfare Center's cafeteria.
The 1,350 ice packs prepared by the group were delivered to the Dangjin Traditional Market Merchants Association and will be used by vendors selling fresh foods such as meat and seafood.
The ice pack donation campaign began in 2021 with the aim of recycling ice pack waste, which surged as delivery and courier transactions increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative has achieved the dual effect of protecting the environment and sharing love with neighbors.
The group collects discarded ice packs from the local area, then washes and repackages them. From March to November each year, they donate more than 1,000 ice packs every month to the Dangjin Traditional Market.

In this sharing activity, which has continued for five years, a total of 21,490 ice packs have been donated.
Kim Mijeong, head of the Majungmul Housewives Volunteer Group, said, "Donating recycled ice packs is a sharing activity that saves resources and helps the environment," and added, "It is rewarding to see ice packs, which are often left unused in the corners of home freezers, being used where they are needed."
Meanwhile, the ninth Majungmul Housewives Volunteer Group began their first volunteer activity in February by visiting the Pyeongan Village Senior Nursing Welfare Facility. The group delivered snacks to the seniors at the facility and spent an enjoyable time singing together, receiving a warm response.
