Changwon Special City Jinhae-gu, "Shall We Visit Jinhae Cherry Blossom Spots This Year?"

Proposing New Tourism Content for Jinhae Gunhangje Festival
Including Marine Navy Road and Jinhae Cultural Garden

Jinhae-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, is accelerating preparations for the successful hosting of the 63rd Jinhae Gunhangje Festival by promoting new tourism content and creating a pleasant event venue environment.

Changwon Special City Jinhae-gu, "Shall We Visit Jinhae Cherry Blossom Spots This Year?" Jung Hyun-seop, the mayor of Jinhae District, is giving a briefing.

Jinhae-gu has created and shared a "Cherry Blossom Map" featuring 13 hidden cherry blossom spots frequented by locals. The goal is to expand the flow of tourists, which has been concentrated in the western part of Jinhae, to the entire area and actively promote cherry blossom spots hidden throughout the neighborhoods. Locations with cherry blossom trees lining paths longer than 150 meters, ideal for photography, have been selected by district, and based on this, a cherry blossom spot location map has been produced and is being promoted through the website and SNS.

Additionally, for the first time nationwide, a navy-themed street reflecting the unique character of the naval port city Jinhae is being created. The "Marine Navy Road" will be established by displaying navy logos along a roughly 190-meter section from Susong-dong Sports Ground Intersection to Hanseong Marksa. In the area around Changseon-dong 20, the following will be operated: △ a navy and Jinhae-gu collaboration booth (offering various events such as writing navy support cards and goods lotteries) △ an exhibition and sale of navy-themed local youth goods △ an outdoor resting area in collaboration with Jinhae Moonbit-sa.

Following the navy-themed street, it naturally connects to the Jinhae Cultural Garden. Various side events involving citizen participation are planned, including △ appreciation of works by local artists △ a playground for everyone to enjoy traditional games △ "I am also a poet" △ capturing modern times.

Before the Gunhangje Festival begins, Jinhae-gu will repave roads, create shared parking lots using vacant land, and secure parking spaces by strengthening guidance and enforcement against illegal parking. During the festival, a comprehensive cleaning situation room will operate to establish a system for early morning cleaning and garbage collection, and illegal outdoor advertisements and street vendors will be intensively monitored to provide a clean street environment. Furthermore, food public hygiene safety will be strengthened to provide safe food and a pleasant lodging environment.

Jung Hyun-seop, head of Jinhae-gu Office, said, “As Jinhae, the city of cherry blossoms, receives great love from domestic and international tourists every year through the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, we will do our utmost to create a safer and more pleasant environment along with new and diverse cherry blossom travel destinations this year.”

Meanwhile, to allow tourists to see the fully bloomed cherry blossoms, the growth environment will be improved in advance by supplying nutrients to cherry trees and removing dead branches, and a cherry tree status survey project (March to November) will be conducted to establish a long-term management plan.
