On the 5th, at the 'InterBattery 2025' event held at COEX in Seoul, President Kim told reporters, "I understand that the new U.S. government's policy fundamentally encourages production within the United States," adding, "Since we already have many factories in the U.S., we believe there will be a first-mover advantage. We plan to leverage this effectively."
Regarding the battery industry, he said, "I think the first quarter or the first half of the year will be the low point, but I expect gradual improvement from the second half," and added, "The situation is very volatile, so we need to watch it closely."
However, concerning President Donald Trump not mentioning battery tariffs, he commented, "We will have to wait and see how things change."
On competition with Chinese battery companies, he stated, "Chinese companies are doing well, but LG Energy Solution takes pride in having written the history of batteries," and added, "The fact that we hold the most battery-related intellectual property (IP) among companies is proof of this."
President Kim continued, "If you look at today's exhibition, you can feel that we are leading with products such as the 46 series, lithium iron phosphate (LFP), and cell-to-pack (CTP)," emphasizing, "We will leverage these to create a competitive edge over Chinese companies."
