Lee Seunghwan Certifies Normal Entry to the U.S. Last Month
Some of Yoon's Hardline Supporters Reported Him to the CIA
Welcomes Accusation Amid "Photo Manipulation" Allegations
Singer Lee Seunghwan, who has been in conflict with President Yoon Suk-yeol's hardline supporters, expressed a welcoming stance regarding the accusation of forgery of official documents. On the 3rd, Lee Seunghwan posted a photo of the accusation letter on social media (SNS) along with the message "Accusation very welcome."
According to the accusation letter, the accusers are Mr. A and Mr. B, representatives of the 'Maryland Legal Video Research Institute.' The letter states, "Lee Seunghwan committed crimes such as forging or altering official documents related to his U.S. travel records around February 21 of this year, so we request a thorough investigation and severe punishment."
Lee Seunghwan posted photos taken in the U.S. last month at his nephew's wedding, stating, "I was not denied entry by the CIA," indicating there were no issues with his U.S. entry and exit. Some supporters of President Yoon, dissatisfied with Lee Seunghwan's political actions, have repeatedly reported him to the U.S. CIA (Central Intelligence Agency), but he stated these efforts were ineffective. However, suspicions that the photos Lee posted were manipulated spread indiscriminately again, and the YouTuber called 'Maryland Legal Video Research Institute,' who wrote the accusation letter, gained attention by posting a video titled "Seunghwan, want to bet with me?"
Immigration documents posted on the 21st of last month by Lee Seunghwan to prove his visit to the United States. Facebook
Lee Seunghwan referred to this YouTuber as "the YouTuber who talked about reporting to the CIA," saying, "I accept that offer. I think the time has come for someone to reveal the truth behind these lies." He added, "My proposal is that you never do YouTube again," and said, "Please tell me your desired offer. Money or anything is fine," indicating his willingness to accept the bet. This seems to be the reason he also welcomed the accusation letter.
Previously, Lee Seunghwan expressed support for the impeachment of President Yoon following the December 3 emergency martial law incident. He even took the stage at a pro-impeachment rally held last December in front of the National Assembly building in Yeouido, Seoul. Dissatisfaction with celebrities, including Lee Seunghwan, who showed pro-impeachment sentiments, led to an increase in reports to the CIA.
However, contrary to some YouTubers' claims, it is known that CIA reports are unrelated to U.S. entry and exit. In December last year, Cho Tae-yeol, Minister of Foreign Affairs, responded to a question at the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee asking, "Is it possible that ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) is not issued because of attending an impeachment rally?" by saying, "That is impossible."
