1st Anniversary of Jojuk Innovation Party "Promoting Special Investigation on Anti-Constitutional Acts"

Kim Seon-min: "First Bill from Opposition Parties' Roundtable"
Targets People Power Party: "Multiple Grounds for Party Dissolution"

Marking its first anniversary, the Party for National Innovation on the 3rd urged the formation of a Special Investigation Committee on Anti-Constitutional Acts, stating, "The dismissal of President Yoon Seok-yeol does not end all problems."

Kim Seon-min, Acting Leader of the Innovation Party, held a press conference at the National Assembly main building on the same day to commemorate the party's first anniversary, stating, "The Innovation Party's proposal for a Special Investigation Committee on Anti-Constitutional Acts has been accepted at the roundtable meeting of the five opposition parties and is expected to be submitted as the first bill."

Acting Leader Kim pointed out, "If the Special Investigation Committee on Anti-National Acts had succeeded immediately after liberation and punished pro-Japanese collaborators, South Korea would probably be vastly different today," adding, "Because it did not succeed, the descendants of pro-Japanese collaborators and their sympathizers are still living well."

He continued, "We must find and punish all those who are currently collaborating in the rebellion and ensure they are remembered in history," emphasizing, "The most urgent task is regime change through an overwhelming victory."

Regarding the remarks made by People Power Party lawmaker Seo Cheon-ho at a rally on the 1st, calling to "smash the Corruption Investigation Office, the National Election Commission, and the Constitutional Court," he condemned it as "serious collusion in rebellion," stating, "We have no choice but to view (Lawmaker Seo) as an anti-state force."

Earlier, the Innovation Party filed a petition with the Ministry of Justice in January this year requesting the dissolution of the People Power Party as an unconstitutional party.

Acting Leader Kim said, "Compared to the dissolution of the Unified Progressive Party in the past, what the People Power Party is doing now is more than sufficient grounds for party dissolution. They continue to provide evidence," adding, "If we overlook Lawmaker Seo’s actions, we will have no choice but to continue submitting supplementary evidence following the petition for dissolution."

Regarding the Innovation Party’s achievements over the past year, he said, "The Innovation Party has continuously worked on impeachment efforts," adding, "We were the first to draft the impeachment motion and announced the impeachment motion for rebellion early the next day after the rebellion."

He identified ending the rebellion, political reform, and reform of power institutions as the party’s immediate future tasks.

Emphasizing the need for political reform, he stated, "We must introduce a mixed-member proportional representation system and a runoff voting system. In particular, we urge the normalization of the negotiation group criteria to the pre-Yushin regime standards."

He also expressed determination to push for reform of power institutions, especially the prosecution, saying, "We must drastically overhaul power institutions, especially the prosecution."

Meanwhile, the Innovation Party was officially founded on March 3 last year under the banner of "Early End to Prosecutorial Dictatorship and Restoration of Democratic Republic Values."
